The purpose of the project is two-fold: it serves as both the solution for the homeowner who has seen his housing situation dissolve and for the blighted neighborhood unable to effect change of its own

Recent circumstances, be-it natural tragedies or economic realities, have forced many Americans from their homes. There is a growing need for these families to find immediate shelter. The Nesting House will be able to provide a well built home for these people in a short amount of time. By partnering with the local city government, it is also an answer to replacing the "townsite homes," originally intended to be temporary themselves, in the surrounding neighborhoods of the Water Street District of Henderson, NV.

Modeled after the Russian Nesting Dolls known as "Matryoshka Dolls," these factory built homes are designed on a module so that each section can fit inside another for delivery to the project site using only a single trailer. There they will be craned into position and re-assembled into their finished state.

This strategy will intentionally reduce shipping costs and the consumption of natural resources.

Borrowing from the manufactured housing industry, these homes will be built in a factory where the speed of construction, the quality control of techniques, and the economies of scale can be managed at the highest levels.

However, unlike the outdated techniques of the manufactured housing industry, these homes will implement the most innovative and energy efficient construction systems available, including SIPS, structural insulated panels for the walls and floors to optimize the insulative value of the home; radiant heating and cooling; tankless water heaters; and even an option for photovoltaic panels.
